2 weeks to go but who’s counting?? I can’t tell you how amazed I am now that we are here in how fast this pregnancy has gone by. I feel like I just blinked and here we are. So surreal yet wonderful!
WEIGHT GAIN:
At this stage, I am up about 30ish pounds. It slowed for a bit but after visiting the doctor last week (I go again tomorrow) I had gained another 3. I used to tell myself to not look at the number but at this stage I just don’t care. I was warned that the major weight gain would be happening the most now. Right now, I am completely amazed (in a good way) with how my body looks to support this growing babe that the weight hasn’t bothered me that much. Sure I have extra fat and can tell I have lost definition in my legs, arms and ass but whatever. This is what my body has been designed to do.
FOOD:
Eating has been off, like it has been this whole pregnancy. Carbs and fats are my main craving while most protein sources are usually a giant turn off. I think my body knows that the final showdown is about to happen so its definitely getting me ready and ensuring I’m eating energy rich foods.
WORKOUTS:
Im happy to report that I am still going strong with the workouts. They have for sure slowed down but most weeks I still managed to get in at least 3 strength training sessions and then fill in the other days with long walks. I will admit that some days, it take a lot of extra motivation but I try and keep in mind that once baby comes it will be about 6-8 weeks until l am cleared to workout again, so I want to make sure it isn’t any longer than that. Additionally, I am motivated to keep moving in hopes of getting labor started so we can meet our girl soon.

SYMPTOMS:
Braxton hicks are no joke these days! Especially with being so close, I will suddenly get the cramping and have to stop to make sure its not labor. Sure enough, they end up stopping so thats how I know they aren’t anything more. Additionally, I have been waddling more as I have the baby riding a lot lower. This in turn has A) caused me to have to pee or feel like I have to pee every 5 minutes and B) get something known as “lightening crotch.” The doctor assured me this is normal but did admit it isn’t fun. It honestly feels like I have a knife being rammed into my pelvis, stopping me in my tracks. Sounds fun, right?
Oh and lastly, I did lose my mucus plug last week. While you’d assume this means labor is close, it unfortunately doesn’t. All that tells me is that labor is in my future….which by this point I have already figured out.
BABY:
She is active and feels very large. The doctor hasn’t guessed her weight so I’m just saying that based off of how I feel. However, what the doctor did say is that she is “quite the squirmer.” The past two times Ive been the doctor, she has had to hold the baby in place so that she could get her heart beat.
OTHER NEWS:
Maternity leave has officially started for me so I am trying to keep myself busy. Working on client programs, cleaning house, and making freezer meals are my number one priorities until baby comes. While I of course love being able to relax, I am not the type of person who can just sit all day and do nothing. However, I will admit that it being the Christmas season has made sitting around more bearable since I can watch all my favorite Christmas movies.
